Wouldn’t it be great if you could make your problems of dry skin, sore throats and itchy eyes disappear at the press of a button? Fear not, because it is definitely possible with the help of an air humidifier.
If you’re like me, a chronic sufferer of dry nose, lips, skin, itchy eyes, and sore throats during the night, then you’d be glad to hear that there is one cause to all these problems: dry air. Thankfully there is but a singular fix to that: air humidifiers!
Air humidifiers diffuse water vapor into the air, increasing the humidity level of the room it is in. Increased air humidity helps keep your skin from getting dry and flakey, your nose from dry and itchy all gone at the flick of a switch!
A humidifier also protects your throat. When the air has too little moisture, your vocal cords become dry and scratchy. Over a period of time, your throat becomes irritated and your voice becomes hoarse.
Humidifiers are also an effective tool in the fight against croup. This childhood virus causes inflammation in the upper airways and leads to a persistent barking cough and difficulty breathing.
There are plenty of air humidifiers out there in all different shapes and sizes, some with varying features from others. Make sure to note down that your needs are while you’re shopping for humidifiers!
The itVanila Cool Mist Humidifier is a great option for children’s bedrooms. The cool mist means there is no risk of scalding with and should the unit be pulled down there’s no hot water to splash around. It’s also whisper-quiet so there’s no disturbing the youngsters once you’ve finally got them off to sleep! There never seems to be enough hours in the day, so stain-resistant and easy to clean are another two ticks in the box for this humidifier fitting into busy family life.
The HU-C1A features an ‘auto-shutoff’ function which protects both you and the unit. This means that when the water level in the tank is too low, it’ll turn itself off until you fill it up with water again.
Shame that it isn’t super easy to fill the tank up though! You have to detach the water tank to top it up. But we did say this was one of the best portable humidifiers out there, so perhaps its a good thing that it doesn’t come apart easily.
iTVanilla’s air humidifier boasts up to 28 hours of continual use before the 2.7L tank runs out of water, so you can enjoy more than a whole day without dry skin. This feature alone almost makes up for the difficulty to refill it, since I don’t need to do it so many times in a day. The smaller size of the tank makes this one of the best portable humidifiers on the market
Just fill it up in the mornings and don’t worry about it until the next day!
If someone had told me that I should buy an air humidifier to fix my dryness issues 5 years ago, I would probably break down crying. How would I ever be able to afford such an essential luxury?
Yet here we are! I can’t begin to describe just how surprised I was as to how affordable this humidifier is, especially as it boasts such long hours of use. My bank account is thrilled, and yours will be too!
This air humidifier lets you have full control over not just the mist output, but also the direction of the mist. With an adjustable knob, you decide how much or how little the humidifier emits according to your needs.
And with a 360º nozzle, you decide where the mist blows, in the direction of your choosing. I love being able to customise my comfort-levels like that, don’t you?
iTVanilla boasts that this humidifier runs a quiet operation. Running at 32 decibels, you should be able to enjoy a great night’s sleep without random noises waking you up in the middle of the night.
Sadly, this might not be the case as the humidifier occasionally buzzes during its operation. Though it doesn’t really bother me because I’m such a heavy sleeper, I can sleep through almost anything!
The HU-C1A is filter-less, which means that you have to be careful with the water that you use with it. This might just be me being picky, but if you’re like me, in a country with hard water, you’re going to have to make sure that you use distilled or filtered water with it. Do this to make sure that the humidifier doesn’t clog up some time from minerals.
Just an extra step to take to ensure longevity for your humidifier!
From reading the reviews available on the internet, most users of iTvanilla HU-C1A Humidifier seem happy with their purchase.
Another air humidifier by iTVanila but you’ll have to fork out just a bit more money to enjoy its extra features. This humidifier-cum-diffuser has a larger water tank compared to its sibling, with 5L capacity and boasts 48 whole hours of use!
+ 5L water tank
– More expensive
– No night light
Like the HU-X3 above, the Geniani humidifier doubles as an essential oil diffuser, hence the ‘2-in-1’ in its name. It is also bigger than the HU-C1A with a 4L, top-fill water tank.
+ Bigger water tank
+ Essential oil diffuser
+ Easier to refill
– More expensive
This humidifier has a smaller capacity compared to the HU-C1A but comes with a water filter. The HU11 also comes with a customisable output dial but doesn’t enjoy the 360º customisability available with the HU-C1A.
+ Water filter
– 1.5L water tank
– Unidirectional spray
This humidifier may not be perfect, but at such an affordable price, I wouldn’t turn it away so quickly. iTVanila’s HU-C1A will solve all your dryness issues and provide restful sleep so easily, and it is a real contender for the title of one of the best portable humidifiers!
