Key Features of the Honeywell HPA300

1.  Two Stage Filtration System

A+ Genuine Pre-Filter

The Pre-Filter is the first line of defense and helps to capture the large particles in the air such as dust, lint, and pet fur. It also helps to reduce odors from cooking, smoke, bathrooms, and pets.  Honeywell suggests that the filter should be replaced every 3 months.

R Certified True HEPA Filter

The Certified Honeywell True HEPA filter then helps capture up to 99.97% of microscopic allergens. So, that’s anything 0.3 microns & larger will be captured in the filter. Honeywell suggest that for optimal performance, the HEPA filter should be replaced every 12 months.

Alternatives to the Honeywell HPA300

Pure Enrichment Pure ZonePure Zone Air Purifier

Although this product looks very sleek, it uses UV light technology to destroy microorganisms.  While it can help how well the system works, I’ve found that this technology can, in some cases, be harmful to the environment. This still looks a very good option though and is worth considering despite being more expensive.

+Energy Star Certified
+HEPA filter
– LED indicator lights are too bright
– Not designed for large spaces

Germ Guardian 4825The Germ Guardian

This air purifier comes very highly rated. In my opinion, however, the product has been let down by its design, which I thought was pretty ugly! The purification specifications of the Germ Guardian are almost exactly that of the Core 300, but this purifier comes in more expensive.

+ 3-step filtration
+ Quiet Operation
– Faint blue UV light keeps shining through
– Doesn’t have many smart features

I also looked at similar products, which also have the capability of heating and cooling. This particular model is also a dehumidifier. The higher cost and larger size of such units were not really suitable for my needs. If you’re looking for a wide range of features, then this might be one to look at.

+ Space saving 4-in-1 design
+ Includes a true HEPA filter
– No remote control
– Comes with just a one year warranty

Although it lacks some of the bells and whistles of other air purifiers, the Honeywell HPA300 is a solid piece of equipment with an excellent build quality. Sometimes there’s lots to be said for an option which is more straightforward, leaving you more time to enjoy the clean air rather than reading the manual!
